About Sculptor Celia Soper

Celia Soper putting finishing touches on Monsignor Sigur bust
Sculptor Celia Soper
Celia enjoys the challenge of capturing the likeness of the individual to be commemorated as well as working with the architectural firm or corporation to incorporate their ideas and objectives in the creation of a singular work of art that makes a statement about the individual.

Celia has worked in clay for the past 30 years and is particularly known for her portrait work. Among her commissions is the life–size bronze of the founder of Breaux Bridge, LA Scholastique Breaux, as well as such notable locals as businessman, Herbert Heymann – Evangeline bakery founder; Frem Boustany – attorney; J. Minos Simon; Monsignor Sigur and many others. She recently completed a bust of Germaine Laville, a young female Marine corporal who heroically lost her life in an attempt to save her men from a fire during a training mission during World War II.

Celia studied with the nationally–known sculptor, Arthur Morgan, whose works can be seen in numerous private and corporate collections, including heroic size bronzes commissioned for the National Capitol in Washington, DC.
